The newly acquired Dodgers infielder expressed immense joy upon being traded to the team.
The Dodgers acquired Andre Lipcius from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash, marking a whirlwind start to his spring training. Shortly after the trade was finalized on Monday, Lipcius found himself meeting his new teammates at Camelback Ranch the following day.
Following his designation for assignment by the Tigers, Lipcius couldn’t contain his excitement as he spoke to SportsNet LA on Tuesday. “I was ecstatic. You guys are known to be the best organization in baseball and I was stoked to get over here,” he expressed.
Drafted by the Tigers in the third round in 2019 from Tennessee, Lipcius has amassed four seasons with the organization, compiling impressive stats with a .266 batting average, 88 doubles, 38 homers, and 212 RBI. Last season, he showcased his talents by hitting .286 with a double and a home run in 13 games for the Tigers.
Reflecting on his new surroundings, Lipcius marveled at the opportunity to join the Dodgers and observe the professionalism of his new teammates. “Seeing these guys and some of the names that are here is crazy for me. Watching them over the years and it’s really cool seeing how they go about their work. It’s really nice to be here,” he shared.
Despite his excitement, Lipcius remains focused on his role with the team, willing to adapt to whatever the Dodgers require of him, even if it means starting the season in Triple-A Oklahoma City.
With Lipcius’s addition, the Dodgers have bolstered their roster, adding him to the 40-man roster while placing Clayton Kershaw on the 60-day injured list, indicating a significant change in their lineup for the upcoming season.
