Young Panthers kick off the season with victory.

The Penrith Panthers commenced their Jersey Flegg season with a triumphant 14-4 win against the Sydney Roosters at St Mary’s Stadium.

Panthers coach Jono Rolfe would have been pleased with his team’s performance, as they conceded just one try during Saturday afternoon’s match.

Casey McLean, who had been training with the NRL squad during the summer, played a pivotal role by scoring twice, ultimately making the difference as the Panthers secured a 10-point victory in their season opener.

The scoring began with Panthers winger Angelis Hotere-Papali finding the try line after eight minutes, although the conversion attempt was unsuccessful.

McLean’s tries, scored on either side of halftime, propelled the Panthers to a commanding 14-0 lead.

However, in the closing minutes of the game, Rooster Hayden Barton managed to score a try, earning his team’s only points of the match.
