“That’s surprising,” the coach criticizes a Leeds star following an error.

Former Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has expressed criticism towards goalkeeper Illan Meslier for an error during Friday night’s match. Daniel Farke’s team climbed to the second spot in the Championship standings following a 2-0 victory against Sheffield Wednesday. Patrick Bamford scored the opening goal in first-half stoppage time, with Wilfried Gnonto doubling the lead 13 minutes into the second half. Despite their lead, Sheffield Wednesday nearly capitalized on a mistake made by goalkeeper Meslier. Meslier failed to secure a long-distance shot, resulting in the ball rebounding to an opposing player. However, Ethan Ampadu made a crucial clearance off the line to prevent a goal. Redfearn, speaking on talkSPORT, criticized the French goalkeeper for his nearly costly error. “That is shocking from Meslier, the goalkeeper. I mean, the ball bounces in front of him so it is difficult, but that comes off him and if Smith’s a little bit more alert there, he’s got a tap-in,” he stated via MOT Leeds News. Despite Meslier’s mistake, Farke’s team managed to maintain their lead, securing a 2-0 victory for Leeds United. Leicester City remains at the top of the table, holding a two-point lead with a game in hand, while Ipswich Town sits just one point behind second place.
