On March 6, 2024, Morse, a potential target for the Steelers at center, underwent a significant career transition as he was released by the Bills, freeing up $8.5 million in cap space. This move signaled the end of his time in Buffalo, which commenced on March 11, 2019, with a lucrative four-year, $44.5 million contract.

Throughout his stint with the Bills, Morse demonstrated his prowess and commitment to the game. He agreed to a pay cut on March 9, 2021, clearing $3 million of cap space, and later inked a two-year contract extension on March 14, 2022, worth $19.5 million.

As Morse departs Buffalo, he shifts his focus to a new opportunity, temporarily leaving Pittsburgh behind to meet with the Jaguars.

Before his tenure with the Bills, Morse spent four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, making significant contributions to their offensive line. Drafted by the Chiefs in the second round, 49th overall, in the 2015 NFL Draft, Morse swiftly established himself as a dependable starter. Throughout his nine-year NFL career, he has shown exceptional consistency, starting in all 126 games he has played.

Morse’s leadership and dedication saw him rise to the role of team captain during his time with the Bills, underscoring his value to the team. His arrival in Buffalo as a free agent marked a significant addition. However, his release was part of the Bills’ efforts to manage their salary cap effectively, leading to the departure of several key players.

As the Steelers continue their search for a starting center, the method of securing their choice remains uncertain. While the meeting with Morse did not yield a conclusion, speculation mounts regarding who will fill the pivotal role of snapping the football for the Steelers in 2024.
