Patrick Beverley reacts to merciless memes following a lackluster performance in the “cardio” game against the Lakers.
Patrick Beverley became a hot topic on social media on Friday, but not for positive reasons. The 35-year-old player had a game to forget during the Milwaukee Bucks’ 123–122 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena, where he recorded zero points, rebounds, assists, steals, or blocks in 16 minutes of play.
The NBA community swiftly turned Beverley’s lackluster performance into memes, with even the Lakers’ television broadcaster, Spectrum SportsNet, joining in on the banter.
Beverley caught wind of the online chatter and made sure to address it with a post on social media. “Crazy cardio last night,” he wrote, acknowledging the criticism with humor.
In his 12 appearances with the Bucks, the defensive-oriented guard has been averaging 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 18.1 minutes per game. The defeat against the Lakers marked Beverley’s first game without scoring since his trade to Milwaukee from the Philadelphia 76ers in February.
He will have an opportunity to respond to his critics on Sunday when the Bucks take on the Los Angeles Clippers.
