Official announcement: Inter Milan will compete against Benfica, Salzburg, and Real Sociedad in the group stage of the Champions League.
The Beneamata were placed in Pot 2, which includes some of the highest-ranked clubs that didn’t qualify for Pot 1, reserved for champions of the top-ranked leagues.
The Italian powerhouse landed in Group D alongside Portuguese champions Benfica, setting up a rematch from last season’s quarter-finals. Inter emerged victorious in the double tie with a 5-3 aggregate score, advancing to the final where they narrowly lost to Man City in Istanbul.
Under Simone Inzaghi’s leadership, Inter Milan aims to repeat their success against Benfica for the second time in a year.
Joining from the third pot is Red Bull Salzburg, perennial Austrian champions known for nurturing top-tier young talents. Their prolific youth academy continues to produce exceptional players, and they’ll be eager to showcase their abilities against Inter Milan and the other clubs in Group D.
Completing the group are representatives from the fourth pot, Real Sociedad. The Spanish side makes a return to the competition after finishing fourth in La Liga standings last season.
The new season’s first matchday is scheduled for September 19th and 20th. Inter Milan is determined to secure a top spot in the group or finish as runner-ups to advance to the knockout stage.
