The Saints extend the contract of a key playmaker ahead of the start of free agency.

The New Orleans Saints have secured the presence of a pivotal offensive asset. Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, previously an Exclusive Rights Free Agent, has been retained by the Saints through their tagging provision, ensuring his return for at least another year.

Shaheed received a tender from the Saints, agreeing to a 1-year contract valued at $985,000. His performance in the previous season earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl and recognition as a First-Team All-Pro for his exceptional return skills. Additionally, he demonstrated considerable improvement as a receiver, culminating in 719 receiving yards from 46 catches and 5 touchdowns. Serving as a primary target for Derek Carr downfield, Shaheed’s importance to the team was undeniable.

Looking ahead, Shaheed is poised to assume an even more prominent role within the offense, particularly under the guidance of Klint Kubiak in the upcoming season.
