JJ Jansen set to embark on his 16th season with the Carolina Panthers.
The Carolina Panthers have secured the services of veteran long snapper J.J. Jansen for another year, signing him to a one-year contract. This agreement ensures that the longest-serving Panther will return for his 16th consecutive season with the team.
The deal, confirmed by a league source, brings back the 38-year-old, who holds the team record for career games played. Jansen’s return was widely anticipated, considering his remarkable consistency and reliability throughout his tenure with the Panthers.
Since joining the team in 2009, Jansen has started in a franchise-record 243 games, providing snapping duties for every Panthers kicker, including notable names such as John Kasay, Olindo Mare, Graham Gano, and Joey Slye, among others.
While other areas of the Panthers’ special teams may have faced challenges over the years, Jansen’s performance has remained steadfast, exemplifying the adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
With this signing, the Panthers have resolved one position definitively as they navigate through what promises to be a tumultuous offseason.
