Sam Howell’s recent performance has been less than ideal, as things seem to have taken a downturn for him.

Craig Hoffman opened his Take Command Podcast this week with Logan Paulsen by acknowledging the challenges faced by Sam Howell, stating, “Things have not been going great for Sam Howell, they’ve kind of trended the wrong way.”

Continuing the discussion, Hoffman noted, “And it feels like Jacoby Brissett is getting a bit more comfortable.” In response, Paulsen reflected on Howell’s performance during the first three OTA workouts, describing him as “looking very sharp on rhythm, timing, balls out of his hand quickly, finding the open guy, confident throws down the field.”

However, Paulsen observed a shift in the second week, noting that the offense struggled to handle the blitz package, which they hadn’t yet incorporated into their protections. Additionally, he observed that the young secondary players were effectively matching up with the receivers.

“On the sixth day,” Paulsen remarked, “I would say Sam had, not a bad day, but it definitely wasn’t a good day, a day he would probably want to have back.”

Regarding Jacoby Brissett, Paulsen emphasized their expectations for him to perform better early on, given his experience. He noted that Brissett’s understanding of the game at a higher level has been beneficial and has contributed to his improvement.
