ARTICLE: New York Giants Allegedly Played Significant Role in Seattle Seahawks’ Recent Trade

The Giants made the initial move by acquiring Drew Lock. However, Seattle didn’t give up easily. According to an interview with Seahawks GM John Schneider, they expressed interest in retaining Lock as their backup quarterback.

But the Giants threw a wrench into Seattle’s plans. Allegedly, they promised Lock a chance to start for them in 2024, something unlikely to happen in Seattle with Geno Smith firmly established as the starter. Consequently, Lock opted to leave Seattle and sign with New York.

With Lock gone, Seattle found themselves in need of a backup quarterback, especially considering Lock’s significant playing time in 2023 when Smith was injured. Enter Sam Howell.

Despite playing behind one of the NFL’s weakest offensive lines, Howell managed over 4,000 passing yards in the 2023 NFL season. Seattle trusts Howell to provide the quarterback depth they require.

This situation complicates the quarterback carousel for the New York Giants. As of now, the anticipated quarterbacks for the 2024 roster include Lock, Daniel Jones, and Tommy DeVito. While it seems like the starting job is up for grabs next year, it doesn’t guarantee Lock will secure it. This development suggests that the Giants may not fully commit to Daniel Jones, despite statements from Giants GM Joe Schoen indicating otherwise. Additionally, DeVito hasn’t seemingly impressed Schoen, despite his off-field popularity.

However, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of the Giants drafting another quarterback. Reports suggest they’re exploring the option of trading up in the draft, although it’s uncertain if they’ll succeed given the needs of the top three teams, all potentially in the market for a quarterback. Nonetheless, the depth of this year’s quarterback class might prompt the Giants to draft one regardless.
