Josh Green of the Mavericks sustains a possibly severe injury to his lower body during the game against the Thunder.

The Dallas Mavericks faced the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night with a depleted backcourt, missing key player Luka Doncic due to a hamstring injury sustained against the Golden State Warriors the night before.

Unfortunately, the Mavericks encountered more bad luck as Josh Green suffered a severe ankle injury in the first quarter of the game against the Thunder. Joey Mistretta, a Mavs beat reporter for ClutchPoints, confirmed that Green would not return to the game, as evident from the way he collapsed on the court.

During a rebound attempt against Thunder’s Kenrich Williams, Green inadvertently tangled his feet with teammate Dereck Lively II’s, resulting in a twisted ankle and intense pain. The severity of the injury suggests that Green might be sidelined for multiple games.

Josh Green, who was expected to take on a greater role in Doncic’s absence, managed to score two points before exiting the game. With both Green and Doncic out, the Mavericks must rely on their bench even more to compensate for the absence of their star players. Hopefully, Green’s injury isn’t as serious as it initially appeared.
