As the Panthers’ goal song resonated around the arena, Dmitry Kulikov punched Tampa Bay’s Conor Sheary, causing a brawl between the two teams as the puck was about to land on Mahura’s stick.

The four officials, including the two linesmen, convened to discuss what had happened after the combatants were separated and order was restored, even though the two refs on the ice had not immediately called a penalty on Kulikov.

Referee Eric Furlatt declared Kulikov received a 5-minute major after consulting.
