Opinion: 26-year-old has earned new Ipswich Town deal after slow Portman Road start

Ipswich Town made a significant acquisition early in the season by bringing in defender Axel Tuanzebe on a free transfer. Tuanzebe, who had been without a club since leaving Manchester United earlier in the summer, joined Ipswich Town as a free agent in September. Despite his signing, he had to wait for opportunities at Portman Road.

It wasn’t until late October that he was included in a Championship matchday squad, and he made his debut on November 1st in the EFL Cup match against Fulham. Tuanzebe had to wait until January for his first consecutive starts of the season.

However, in recent weeks, Tuanzebe has become a regular in the side, particularly excelling at right-back. Despite Harry Clarke’s reliability in that position this season, Tuanzebe’s form has made it difficult for him to reclaim his spot in Ipswich Town’s starting lineup.

Despite his recent successes, there are still uncertainties about Tuanzebe’s future as his current contract with Ipswich Town is set to expire this summer. Nevertheless, his strong performances have made a compelling case for him to earn a new contract with the club.
