Devin White, an LB with the Eagles and a “Big Dog,” officially signs, eager to “earn it all again.”
PHILADELPHIA – When it came to selecting a new team, Devin White kept things straightforward.
During his tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he had seen the Philadelphia Eagles a few times, played them twice in the playoffs, and prevailed both times.
He said he persuaded Nakobe Dean to attend LSU before Dean decided to enroll at the University of Georgia. He knew Jalen Hurts from their days together in the SEC.
Above all, he stated: “The Eagles are the biggest teams in the NFL.” Since I naturally see myself as a big dog, my goal is to team up with another big dog and assist them in achieving their ultimate objective, which is the championship.
Following his one-year contract signing that was reportedly only worth $3.5 million guaranteed, White had a meeting with reporters at the team’s facility on Tuesday afternoon. The deal was worth up to $7.5 million.
Not a bad throw of the dice for the Eagles, who hope to acquire the same White—who is still only 26 years old and the fifth overall pick in 2019—instead of the White whose play soured to the point where K.J. Britt started in his place in the starting lineup the previous season.
With 23 sacks—nine in his second season—566 tackles—including a career-high 140 in his second season—nine forced fumbles, and three interceptions—two of which came last year—White has been a prolific player throughout his career.
