Aaron Donald, a star with the Rams, explains his decision to retire this offseason.

After ten great NFL seasons, Los Angeles Rams standout Aaron Donald announced his retirement earlier this month, capping one of the most illustrious careers in recent memory.

On Wednesday, Donald gave Rams supporters a sneak peek at a video he planned to release in which he would explain why he was retiring.

“Attended two Super Bowl games. Win one, lose one. I am finished. “I am filled,” declared Donald. “I believe that my enthusiasm for the game has faded. I will always be a football fan, but I do not feel the need to push myself to play the sport after thinking about going through another camp and another 17-game season.

“I am exhausted. I believe it is time for me to retire from football at the age of 32 and go on to the next phase of my career and life because I am full, complete, and content with what I have accomplished in the last ten years.

Even though Donald played in 16 games the previous season, the idea of getting ready for and taking part in the ordeal that is another full NFL season proved to be too intimidating for him. Rather, he will bring that chapter of his life to an end with a Hall of Fame résumé to brag about.

The defensive tackle won eight First Team All-Pro accolades and ten Pro Bowls throughout his ten seasons. He has won three Defensive Player of the Year awards and one Super Bowl championship. As a former first-round selection out of Pittsburgh in 2014, Donald dominated in the trenches, recording 111 sacks and 176 tackles for loss in 154 career games.
