Looking into 7 remaining Rams free agents, what they may get, and from whom:

The LA Rams have parted ways with QB Carson Wentz, as I anticipated. Wentz is eager for a starting position, which isn’t available on the Rams’ roster. Unfortunately, there aren’t clear opportunities for him in the NFL at the moment. Nevertheless, Wentz has earned well in his NFL career so far and has time on his side. As long as he stays in shape and remains patient, there’s no rush for him to sign with a team.

Once training camps commence, NFL teams will assess their quarterback options firsthand. Preseason games will present another test for quarterbacks, and injuries often occur during the long 17-game season. At any point, an NFL team could offer Wentz a contract. For now, he can afford to be somewhat selective.

Potential destinations could include signing a minimum deal with either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Dallas Cowboys.

The future of tight end Brycen Hopkins is uncertain. He had minimal involvement in the LA Rams’ offense, making it hard for other teams to gauge his value. With experience in both offense and special teams, he’ll need to showcase his versatility to secure a spot on another NFL roster. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, he presents a sizable target for quarterbacks. However, his limited stats, catching just 13 of 19 passes for 196 yards and no touchdowns in four seasons, may not attract much attention.

Possible landing spots could involve a modest veteran deal with either the Minnesota Vikings or the Baltimore Ravens.

Running back Royce Freeman played a crucial role in the Rams’ offense in 2023 despite not being a preferred choice. He filled in effectively when the featured running back, Kyren Williams, was sidelined. Freeman’s 77 carries for 319 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games showcased his value. Although the Rams seem inclined to move away from power runners like Freeman, they may reconsider due to a lack of younger replacements.

Potential destinations might include signing a minimum deal with the Baltimore Ravens or returning to the Rams’ roster after the 2024 NFL Draft.
