Prior to this past weekend, five countries had already secured their spots in the tournament: the host nation, Scotland; regional qualifiers, Uruguay (America South); the Netherlands (Europe); and Hong Kong, China (Asia). With Samoa’s qualification, the Pool A table is now complete, and the nation can start getting ready for its upcoming matches against Scotland and the two Asian qualifiers, Japan and Hong Kong, China.
“The battle against Tonga was pretty tough. This was our final opportunity to earn a trip to Scotland. The lads find great meaning in it, according to Samoan Ravuama Seruvakula.
Our strategy was to increase the tempo of our offensive play and exert pressure on the Tongan team. The Tongans are an excellent football squad.
With the confirmation of qualification for the Oceania zone, two spots in Pool B remain to be filled. We will soon have information on the U20 Barthés Trophy, the Africa qualifying competition, and the North America qualifying match between the US and Canada.
