Nottingham Forest could now land ‘six-point deduction’ as Wyness suggests new twist
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has claimed Nottingham Forest could be deducted a further two points if they unsuccessfully appeal their first penalty.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Premier League will want Forest and Everton’s cases “wrapped up nice and quickly”
Nottingham Forest were deducted four points earlier this week (18 March) and now find themselves in the Premier League relegation zone with nine games to play this term.
Forest admitted breaching the league’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) by spending £34.5million above their permitted loss threshold of £61million.
The Midlands club were set to be handed a six-point penalty – three points for the breach and a further three for the scale of the breach – but had two points scratched off due to their cooperation with the process.
However, Wyness suggested Forest could see those points deducted if they appeal the independent commission’s decision.
