Predicting whether every Leeds player stays or not this summer

As we approach the final eight games of the season, uncertainty looms over Leeds United’s league status for next year. Currently, Daniel Farke’s team leads the Championship table, but the top three are separated by just one point. Southampton in fourth could narrow the gap to three points if they win their two games in hand.

Remarkably, we’ve witnessed some remarkable football since the start of the year, with only Huddersfield managing to halt Leeds’ league victories in 2024. Such form offers ample reasons for optimism.

Nevertheless, significant decisions lie ahead in the summer, regardless of our promotion status. Thus, a verdict on each first-team player’s future is contingent on our league fate.

Which Leeds players will stay and who will leave in the 2023 summer transfer window?

Meslier, the French goalkeeper, has notably improved this season, showcasing brilliance when called upon despite not being heavily tested. His confidence for a Premier League return would be bolstered by promotion. However, staying for another Championship season remains a possibility given his relatively subdued performance this term.

Karl Darlow’s arrival initially seemed astute, especially with the potential departure of Meslier. Yet, he has mostly served as an understudy, making only sporadic appearances. If promoted, he could serve as a reliable backup and even contend for the starting role if promotion eludes us.

As Kristoffer Klaesson approaches 24, he may seek regular playing time elsewhere. Despite performing well in limited opportunities this season, a loan move upon promotion seems logical to facilitate his desire for consistent game time.

Connor Roberts has yet to secure a regular spot in the lineup but has already made significant contributions, such as his crucial goal against Leicester and assist against Huddersfield. Securing him on a permanent deal would be advantageous, regardless of the division we find ourselves in.
