Cincinnati Bengals’ Rival Still Hoping to Sign Tyler Boyd

CINCINNATI  The Steelers are interested in former Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd, but the veteran remains a free agent.

Boyd, a Pittsburgh native, spent the first eight seasons of his career in Cincinnati. It sounds like money is the only thing preventing a potential homecoming.

“They’re trying to wait out Tyler Boyd,” Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said on 93.7 The Fan. “I’m not quite sure how that’s going to end up going down here. I know that he wants to get paid more than they’re offering him.”

Combine that with the report that there are mixed feelings inside the Steelers organization about signing the 29-year-old and Boyd’s future remains very much up in the air.

Boyd ranks seventh all-time in Bengals’ history with 6,000 receiving yards. The Steelers traded Diontae Johnson to the Panthers, but signed Van Jefferson in free agency. Adding Boyd would give them another proven wide-out for Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

Boyd is a free agent for the first time in his career. The Bengals aren’t expected to re-sign him. The Raiders and Chiefs are also possible destinations for the 29-year-old.
