Tony Perkins, the point guard from Iowa and notable former player from an Indianapolis high school, has officially joined the transfer portal.

According to sources from Peegs.com, Tony Perkins, a former standout from an Indiana high school and senior point guard for Iowa, has entered the transfer portal. Perkins, who showcased his skills at Indianapolis Lawrence North, has one remaining year of eligibility. In the 2023-24 season, he averaged 14.0 points per game for the Hawkeyes, playing an average of 30.9 minutes per game. Additionally, he led the team with 4.6 assists, maintained a turnover rate of 1.9, recorded 1.6 steals, and grabbed 3.2 rebounds per game. Perkins had a 3-point shooting percentage of 29.9%, making 0.7 shots per game, and had a free throw percentage of 78.8%, with 3.7 makes per game. His assist rate of 25.3 ranked him 10th in the Big Ten and within the top 50 nationally. Known for his speed and agility, Perkins excelled in driving to the rim, particularly in transition, with 144 of his 300 2-point attempts occurring at the rim, where he shot 56.3%. Throughout his senior year, Perkins achieved eight games with 20 points or more, notably scoring 25 points at Wisconsin, 24 against Purdue, 24 at Michigan, and 22 at Indiana.
