Bloomington Native, Bradley Transfer Connor Hickman Plans To Visit Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Bradley transfer Connor Hickman will be visiting a familiar place this weekend.
Originally from Bloomington South High School, the 6-foot-3 guard is planning to visit Indiana, as first reported by Jeff Rabjohns of Peegs.com. Hickman has one year of eligibility.
Hickman began his college career at Bradley, where he started 87 games across three seasons. His minutes and productivity increased with each year, going from 6.8 points per game as a freshman to 14.5 as a junior. He made the Missouri Valley All-Freshman team playing 23.3 minutes per game in 2021-22, then averaged 30-plus minutes as a sophmore and junior.
In 2023-24, Hickman shot a career-high 40.2% from the 3-point line on 5.9 attempts per game. With 74 3-pointers made, Hickman ranked sixth in the MVC. He earned third team All-MVC honors and made the MVC All-Tournament team. His 14.5 points led the team on a per-game basis.
Hickman’s junior season featured eight games with 20-plus points, including a career-high 28 points at Valparaiso. He made at least three 3-pointers in 11-of-31 games and sunk six in single games against Valparaiso, Missouri State and Illinois-Chicago.
Prior to Bradley, Hickman was teammates with current Indiana guard Anthony Leal. A year younger than Leal, Hickman was considered a three-star recruit and the No. 35 combo guard in the nation in the class of 2021. Together, Hickman and Leal, the 2020 Indiana Mr. Basketball winner, helped Bloomington South go undefeated during the 2019-20 season before it was canceled due to COVID-19.
Indiana currently has seven open scholarships heading into the 2024-25 season, the fourth under coach Mike Woodson. Kel’el Ware declared for the draft on Tuesday, and Xavier Johnson and Anthony Walker are out of eligibility. CJ Gunn, Kaleb Banks and Payton Sparks have each entered the transfer portal, with Sparks heading back to Ball State, where he began his career.
