During the recent two-week international break, there has been considerable chatter surrounding Celtic’s captain, Callum McGregor.
Much of this talk has originated from pundit Tam McManus. McManus suggested that McGregor might struggle to regain his place in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad following their performance against the Netherlands.
However, this assertion was promptly refuted by fellow pundit Peter Martin. Undeterred, McManus persisted, now claiming after Scotland’s 1-0 loss to Northern Ireland that even McGregor wouldn’t have prevented the defeat.
The rationale behind McManus’s statements remains unclear. Nonetheless, at least one pundit, Lee Miller, speaking sensibly, highlighted Scotland’s reliance on McGregor, noting that his absence in the recent match against Northern Ireland was felt.
Miller emphasized McGregor’s importance as a key figure in Scotland’s midfield, particularly in light of injuries affecting the team.
