Jeff Capel, from Pitt, remains disillusioned by being left out of the NCAA Tournament.

Pitt Panthers head coach Jeff Capel remains deeply upset about his team’s exclusion from the NCAA Tournament. The disappointment of narrowly missing out on such a significant event in college basketball has been so profound that Capel couldn’t bring himself to watch any of the games during the tournament’s opening weekend. This marks the first time in his life that he has refrained from doing so, underscoring the magnitude of his disappointment.

Known as a passionate basketball enthusiast, Capel’s decision not to engage with one of the sport’s premier events indicates the extent of his disillusionment. Likewise, several players from the Pitt team have publicly expressed their dissatisfaction with the selection committee’s decision, feeling they were unfairly overlooked.

Capel, along with other ACC coaches, had been vocal about defending their team and conference’s competitiveness, particularly during the latter part of the season when many pundits had underrated the ACC. Despite initial skepticism, the ACC has shown its strength with four out of five teams making it to the Sweet 16 in the tournament.

Looking ahead, the Panthers are hopeful for future opportunities but are currently grappling with lingering disappointment. For the latest updates, interviews, and coverage
