According to a source informed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday, wide receiver Josh Reynolds, who was a free agent, has agreed to a two-year contract with the Denver Broncos, potentially worth up to $14 million.
The Broncos made this move following the trade of wide receiver Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns earlier this month. Reynolds will now be part of a wide receiver lineup that includes Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., Tim Patrick, and others.
Reynolds has been known for his veteran presence in the Detroit Lions’ receiving corps, serving as a reliable target for quarterback Jared Goff over the past few seasons. In 2023, he recorded 608 yards on 40 receptions, scoring 5 touchdowns.
His yardage in the final game of the regular season was particularly notable because it triggered a $250,000 bonus clause for surpassing 600 yards for the season, making him the third-highest yardage earner on the team.
During the NFL’s annual league meetings in Orlando, Florida, this week, Lions general manager Brad Holmes expressed his desire to retain Reynolds, stating that Reynolds was part of their original free agent plans.
Reynolds, aged 29, joined the Lions in November 2021 after being waived by the Tennessee Titans. He later signed a two-year extension with the Lions before the 2022 season.
Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 2017 draft, Reynolds has amassed 220 career receptions for 2,933 yards and 19 touchdowns in 107 games. Over his seven seasons, he has averaged 13.3 yards per catch.
