Gonzaga’s men’s basketball guard, Steele Venters, is well-positioned to return for the upcoming season.

In Detroit, Michigan, as the 5th-seeded Gonzaga men’s basketball team prepares for the round of 16 matchup against 1st-seeded Purdue, one player who would have been a key contributor in this game is focusing on making a significant impact on the team in the upcoming season.

Steele Venters, who transferred from Eastern Washington University after his sophomore year with hopes of securing a spot in the starting lineup, faced a setback when he suffered a season-ending knee injury during practice just two days before Gonzaga’s regular season opener. At Eastern Washington, Venters boasted an average of 15.3 points per game and a 37.1% shooting accuracy from three-point range. He was slated to start in their season opener against Yale until his unfortunate injury.

Now in Detroit with his team for the round of 16, Venters remains optimistic about his recovery progress, expressing confidence that he’s on track to return next season. Despite the slow rehabilitation process, he’s able to shoot and execute spot-up floaters. Venters plans to commence jogging in the coming weeks, aiming to regain full fitness by the summer.
