South Carolina Women’s Basketball survives 4th quarter comeback attempt, tops Indiana, 79-75

ALBANY, N.Y. —The South Carolina Women’s Basketball team has done it again, surviving against the Indiana Hoosiers, 79-75. Advancing to their sixth Elite Eight appearance in the past seven seasons.

Kamilla Cardoso led the way with a game-high 22 points and 7 rebounds for the Gamecocks, who shot 50 percent from the field as a team.

The Gamecocks marched out to a 10-2 lead in the opening minutes of the game.

Just as the Hoosiers started to find their footing, South Carolina closed out the quarter on a 16-3 run, holding an 11 point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Indiana would start to heat up in the second quarter, pulling the Gamecocks lead down to just six, but South Carolina’s offense was too much for the Hoosiers to keep up with, as the Garnet and Black closed out the half with a 17 point lead, 49-32.

Coming out of the break, the third quarter belonged to Indiana. Outscoring the Gamecocks 23-16, pulling the Gamecocks lead down to just 10.

Indiana carried over their second-half momentum to the fourth quarter, closing the gap to just 5 with under 4 minutes remaining in regulation.
