As he is “way out of the equation” at Ibrox right now, Alex Lowry will probably need to leave the Rangers in order to advance his career, according to Derek Ferguson.

The teenage winger has found himself in a difficult situation after returning early from his loan at Hearts this season with a very disappointing injury, although the former Gers midfielder said it was impossible to say.

Ferguson feels that Lowry’s career is done because he hasn’t been a member of the Light Blues first squad in over a year and his Rangers contract will expire at the end of the current campaign.

In an exclusive interview with Ibrox News, he stated: “It’s difficult to say since he hasn’t been present at all. The financing agreement at Hearts ended in such a sad way.

And that was a result of his returning to the Rangers wounded. Right now, he just seems to be completely out of the picture.

As talented a youngster as he is, I believe he will be among those who must look elsewhere in order to further his career. It is a horrible and difficult fact to state.

Talent alone won’t cut it; you need more. To be a top football player, you need to possess all the necessary physical attributes, mental toughness, and conditioning.

And I simply believe that Alex hasn’t experienced it quite yet. His talent is undeniable, but regrettably, I don’t think it will be at Rangers.

Is there a chance for the winger to return to Rangers under Philippe Clement?

Rangers winger Ross McCausland
This season, Ross McCausland has surpassed Alex Lowry at the Rangers.

The 20-year-old Lowry made a splash in the first team under Giovanni van Bronckhorst two seasons ago, but after getting hurt in the Lowlands League the previous season, his progress was put on hold and he eventually vanished from the senior squad.

Since then, Ross McCausland has emerged as a star under Philippe Clement, making 35 appearances for the first team, whereas Lowry has only made 14.

The latter has never been used, so the Belgian manager may want to evaluate him during the preseason. However, he wasn’t going to evaluate the young player before his injury surfaced in January, and given how much has changed at Ibrox since the player was last considered, it’s possible that his opportunity has already passed.
