Ten individuals Blackburn Rovers forced Coventry City to settle for a hard-fought point in their relegation battle. After Liam Kitching was sent off for a professional last-man foul on Sam Gallagher shortly after the hour, the Sky Blues were forced to play the majority of the final 30 minutes of the match with one man down.

In the first half, both teams squandered great chances when Sammie Szmodics, the top scorer in the Championship, pushed the ball over the crossbar from eight yards out when he ought to have scored for Rovers. Callum O’Hare then found Haji Wright on the left, but the USA international was unable to beat home goalkeeper Aynsley Pears, who easily saved his weak sidefooted shot.

Early in the second half, Gallagher came dangerously near for the home team with a diving header after manager John Eustace was sent to the stands after he clashed with Kasey Palmer on the sidelines. After Kitching was sent off for a last-man challenge to prevent Gallagher from scoring a goal, Coventry was down to 10 men for the last twenty-eight minutes.

At Ewood Park, Rovers gave it their all, but City managed to hang on and gain a point.
