Even though they just started practicing on Sunday, Caitlin Clark, the WNBA’s first overall choice this year, is winning over her new teammates and head coach.

Erica Wheeler, the guard for the Indiana Fever, who will see less playing time due to Clark, had only positive things to say about her.

Furthermore, colleagues like guard Kelsey Mitchell have already seen firsthand the extraordinary range that Clark possesses when playing basketball.

Simply put, Caitlin Clark is a different kind of athlete.

After spending just a few hours together on the field, 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston, who will play with Clark this season, is excited to play with her.

Following the Fever’s first session, Boston reportedly told WFIN News, “I think Caitlin has a different eye for the game.” It’s possible to observe her ball-passing and shooting skills. You can see how she communicates and locates you—I mean, her passes are amazing. She passes it so good that I’m thinking, “Okay, I’ll get a touch, just let me get down there.”

Christie Sides, the new coach of Clark, has already experienced what Lisa Bluder, the coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes, went through in the previous four years.

Following the session where Clark was working with the starters, Sides remarked, “Her ability to space the floor for us is just incredible.” “You saw some of the passes she made, but we’ll have five players on the floor that can shoot the ball. I’m more upset about how many layups we missed. I believe that having someone who can make those passes is something we’re simply not used to.

For her part, Caitlin Clark is aware of the pressure to achieve that comes along with all of the recognition and popularity.

“I believe that no matter what, I will be held to high standards and under constant pressure to lead this squad to success. You want it that way,” Clark remarked. We have no desire for anything more. We want fans to attend our games, they want us to win a lot of basketball games this season, and I want to play very well. Nothing about it, I believe, has ever been different for me.

On Friday, May 3, the Indiana Fever will play their first preseason game against the Dallas Wings. Thus, you may want to start preparing your popcorn if you have access to Bally Sports Southwest Extra.
