Fans were devastated to see one of their best-ever youth products, Kieran Tierney, leave Celtic for Arsenal in 2019. However, there always seems to be a way for the Lennoxtown graduate to return to Glasgow. Though he was mostly ignored by the Gunners, which led to him going on loan to Real Sociedad and appearing to be out of Mikel Arteta’s plans, Tam McManus and Alan Rough think that a comeback may be imminent sooner rather than later.

Described as ‘exquisite’ during his time in Spain, Tierney made his Celtic debut at the age of 17. By the time he turned 22, he had made 170 appearances for the Hoops. It was inevitable that the Isle of Man-born player would have an incredible career because he was a vital member of the team that won Scottish football under Brendan Rodgers.

After joining Arsenal in 2019, Tierney has made 124 appearances for the Gunners. However, it appears that he is surplus to requirements as Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jurrien Timber, and even substitute left-back Jakub Kiwior have all entered the starting lineup while Tierney has been enjoying life in Spain. Links to Celtic have surfaced as a result, and McManus predicts that Tierney will return to Glasgow’s east end, even if it’s not this season.

“Tierney’s Heart is at Celtic,” says McManus.
For a lot of years, Kieran Tierney has been predicted to return to Celtic.

Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney

Tierney will return to Celtic, McManus said in an interview with PLZ Soccer, though not in the upcoming months. The ex-Hibs player stated:

“I believe he will play one more game for Celtic.” When it will be, I’m not sure. I’m not sure if he wants to return at this point in his career.

His allegiance is to Celtic. He had to leave Arsenal because of the money that was on offer, but I believe he will eventually return to Celtic to complete his career there.

Alan Rough, a former Hoops keeper, endorsed him, stating that even with Tierney’s injury problems, he had “no issue” picking the Hoops over staying at Arsenal if the chance presented itself. He continued, saying:

“My only concern is for the youngster, and the number of wounds he sustains. He seems to be one of those athletes that occasionally sustains unlucky injuries that keep them out of the game for a short spell. I’m hoping this gets straightened up for him right away. I don’t think the money would be a problem for him at all if he had the option.

At all costs, Kieran Tierney should be signed.
Tierney’s La Liga stint has demonstrated that he is still capable of playing at a very high level.

Since Tierney left, Greg Taylor has been a solid choice at left-back; the little full-back has appeared in 166 games for the Hoops.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: As Celtic started their ‘Quadruple Treble’ dominance, Kielerney won eight trophies there.

The club would be better served by focusing on improving other positions before deciding to upgrade for the Scotland international. Tierney has won seven of the Hoops’ 12 domestic trophies since joining from Kilmarnock, but any opportunity to bring him back may only come once.

Any approach for Tierney that is rejected while the team still has a lot of money in the bank could be the incorrect one, as Celtic supporters are nostalgic about the chance to bring back one of their best indigenous players in decades.
