Callum O’Hare, a midfielder for Coventry City, appears likely to depart the team this summer when his contract expires.

Callum O’Hare, a midfielder for Coventry City, is not expected to sign a new contract with the team, according to manager Mark Robins.

O’Hare suffered a terrible knee injury that kept him out of action for about a year, but since getting back into shape in October, he has played exceptionally well.

O’Hare has been essential to the Sky Blues’ ascent up the table in recent months, and he also played a significant role as they advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals. Despite missing out on the play-off spots in the Championship, O’Hare’s contributions have been vital. After scoring in the exciting 3-3 draw against Manchester United in the semi-final at Wembley last month, O’Hare’s profile gained attention, and several teams are keeping an eye on him in advance of the summer transfer season.

O’Hare has been linked to Aston Villa, West Ham United, Fulham, Leicester City, Celtic, Rangers, and La Liga teams. His contract at the CBS Arena is about to expire, therefore Coventry may lose him for nothing.

The newest news from Robins won’t instill much faith in fans that O’Hare, 26, would stay with the Sky Blues. O’Hare is rumored to have rejected a new contract offer from the team.

Although Robins acknowledged that O’Hare might decide to stay with the team and alter his mind, he also acknowledged that it seemed likely that O’Hare will leave this summer.

“We need more goals from midfield, and with what’s looking like Callum moving on we are looking at that and what happens next,” Robins stated to Coventry Live.

“But who knows? Callum might decide he wants to stay at the conclusion of this season, even if I doubt it. We’re not sure yet, though. It’s one of those situations when optimism is warranted, but regardless of the outcome, Adi (Viveash) and I have discussed what we can do, what we have in the building, and how we’re going to approach things and shift our focus.

Not to give too much away, but we’re working hard on it, so that’s where we’re concentrating our attention. To be fair, we will take a holiday, but aside from that, we will be working all summer long.”

Although O’Hare’s impending departure may disappoint Coventry fans, it is not shocking considering his unwillingness to sign a new contract.

After an incredible season, O’Hare has no shortage of Premier League admirers, and it was always going to be difficult for the Sky Blues to hang onto him given they didn’t make the playoffs.

O’Hare’s departure means Coventry needs to make sure they hang onto their other important players this summer, individuals who could draw interest from other teams like Ben Sheaf, Ellis Simms, and Haji Wright.

Victor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer’s departures in the summer caused the Sky Blues to start the season slowly. If they want to mount a strong promotion drive the following season, they must prevent a repeat of that setback.
