The 31-year-old Croatian international full-back has experienced ups and downs in Glasgow, with spells of bad form and low self-assurance besetting that excellent left peg.
But no Rangers supporter can dispute Borna Barisic’s contribution to the team throughout his six arduous years in Glasgow—a tenure that appears to be coming to an end this summer.
Even though the defender has fallen short on occasion, Borna has given Rangers the best years of his football career, and that is something that will never be forgotten.
Recently, a depressing video of the defender fighting with a fan outside Ibrox after Kilmarnock’s 4-1 triumph has started making the rounds online.
Barisic fights outside Ibrox with a “Rangers fan”
Although it is important to emphasize that the video contains no background, Borna Barisic can be seen arguing with a fan as he leaves Ibrox Stadium and signs autographs for Rangers supporters.
A little altercation breaks out between the left-back and a fan in the crowd when the latter says something.
It’s clear that supporters do not want to see Borna Barisic getting set to leave the team, especially with emotions high ahead of the final stretch and reports that the defender has already agreed to an exit with Trabzonspor.
Online rumors abound on the circumstances of the confrontation, but regardless of the truth, Rangers supporters will find the video upsetting since they won’t want to witness their players being provoked in such a way.
This is a terrible way to humiliate our own players, and we have a feeling the “Rangers fan” who did this will regret it.
We also want to avoid exaggerating the situation, as a clearly irritated Barisic was promptly escorted off.
Rangers star is “really hungry” for victory at the Ibrox.
Before Kilmarnock’s Scottish Premiership match this coming weekend, Philippe Clement was questioned concerning Borna Barisic’s possible transfer to Trabzonspor.
The Croatian international left-back was expected to leave Ibrox, however the Rangers boss would not confirm or deny this. Instead, Clement paid respect to a “great servant” of the team.
In remarks that shed more light on this regrettable matchup, the Gers manager also denied any notion that Barisic is not dedicated to the Rangers cause.
“A lot of players and a lot of things have been the subject of reports for months,” Clement stated at a press conference. “Players are selectable as long as nothing is official and I observe the proper things in the training and dressing room.”
Based on what I have observed thus far, Borna will be included in the selection. That will be different if he enters the building tomorrow with a different attitude.
“I don’t think so. I notice someone who has been serving this club for a while, and they are incredibly hungry for additional medals and titles.
Borna Barisic, who left NK Osijek to join Rangers in the summer of 2018, has played in more than 230 games for the team.
