A number of players have left Hillsborough throughout the years, only to return eventually. Two recent instances are Sam Hutchinson and Connor Wickham.

Additionally, supporters frequently use social media to advocate for the Owls to re-sign certain players who are either free agents or available.

Saido Berahino was one player whom Sheffield Wednesday fans liked, even though they found him annoying at times.

Questioning Saido Berahino about a potential return to Sheffield Wednesday

During a recent Q&A session on X, one of the fans asked Berahino, who is now 30 years old, when he would be returning to Sheffield on Wednesday.

In response, Berahino said, “That chapter sadly closed!”

Former West Brom and Stoke City forward Berahino made 36 appearances for the Owls, scoring nine goals and dishing out four more assists.

Darren Moore, a former player for West Brom, lured him to Hillsborough in 2021 after Berahino’s altercation at The Hawthorns and subsequent decline.

After serving as a player for Stoke City, Berahino moved to Belgium and eventually joined Sheffield Wednesday. He was let go at the conclusion of the 2021–2022 season.

In the previous round, Berahino scored four goals in 28 league games for Limassol. He then made ten appearances in the previous league season but failed to score any goals.

What lies ahead for Saido Berahino?

Another well-known example of a player with enormous promise at an early age who never lived up to it is Berahino.

While at Sheffield Wednesday, he had flashes of being an extremely talented player, but his consistency was too patchy, and the Owls allowed him leave on a free transfer without really giving it much thought.

And maybe the most telling information about Berahino and his current situation at age thirty comes from his most recent stint in Cyprus.

Although Berahino is having trouble staying consistent and finding his form, many lower league English clubs may be willing to take a chance on him.

Throughout his career, he has been to many different nations and gathered a great deal of experience. If he can play for one more club in England, it would be a suitable comeback.

Berahino, who recently demonstrated his ability to score goals at the League One level, might be best suited for a League One or even a League Two team.

But under Danny Rohl, Sheffield Wednesday will undoubtedly aim to sign players of a greater caliber this summer.
