Duncan McGuire, a transfer target for Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday, is apparently drawing interest from other European clubs, according to The Sheffield Star.

During the January transfer window, Blackburn believed they had secured the signing of the Orlando City striker, but it turned out that there had been an administrative problem with the paperwork. The striker was a target for both Wednesday and Rovers.

As a result, the striker went back to Orlando, where he has since made an impressive return to the Major League Soccer (MLS), scoring four goals in just nine games this year.

The 23-year-old made his international debut in January and was also called up for the first time to the USMNT. His stock is expected to increase further.

Change your interest in Duncan McGuire

According to The Sheffield Star, Duncan McGuire has been the target of two transfer requests from unidentified teams in Germany and Belgium. In an effort to keep him committed long-term, Orlando City has also extended an offer of a new contract to McGuire.

This implies that McGuire isn’t short on interest, so if Sheffield Wednesday or Blackburn want to sign him this summer, they’ll need to move quickly.

The 23-year-old has established himself as a reliable goal scorer on both sides of the Atlantic, and if he does well in the world cup, his reputation will only get stronger.

Due to a mistake in the paperwork, Blackburn will be disappointed that they were unable to sign McGuire. It is unclear if they will pursue the forward who was born in Nebraska again this summer.

Conversely, Wednesday has supposedly been monitoring McGuire’s development since January, but they haven’t taken any concrete steps to try to get him to Hillsborough this summer.

Prior to Blackburn selling Adam Wharton, which released finances that the Owls believed would have allowed them to acquire McGuire, the striker had even flown to Sheffield to speak with club executives.

The ridiculous transfer drama resulted in Sheffield and Blackburn losing out on their desired player, and because of European interest in the striker, any summer transfer window move will probably need to happen much sooner.

It appears that Duncan McGuire will relocate to Europe this summer.

Duncan McGuire appears eager to leave Orlando City despite the club offering him a new contract, as seen by his wish to relocate to England in January.

Though it’s unclear which German and Belgian teams are interested in signing him, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn will undoubtedly have to fight hard to get him because they now have competition from across the continent.

After the way Blackburn mistreated him in January, you wouldn’t blame the striker if he chose to sit them out this summer. Wednesday could be able to take advantage of this.

There is still a chance for McGuire to make a permanent move, even if the Owls are able to sign striker Ike Ugbo, who made an impression on them during the second part of the season.

The Owls don’t want to lose the forward since he was essential to their success in the division.

Ugbo was signed in the middle of January, and Danny Rohl’s team was still pursuing the American international at the end of the month, indicating that space existed for the two of them.

The Duncan McGuire transfer story appears certain to go on into the summer, with competition from European teams this time around.
