Although the 17-year-old has not yet made his senior debut for his current club, Queen’s Park, other teams have taken notice of his under-18 and B-team exploits. Leading team in the Scottish Premiership, Celtic, is one of them. West Brom also has to contend with Norwich City, Stoke City, and Ipswich Town.
Since joining Queen’s Park in January, McGinlay—who came from the Partick Thistle academy—has impressed everyone and is thought to be the team’s finest prospect. However, because he does not have a professional contract, he may soon be moving, with no transfer fee and only training compensation available.
According to TEAMtalk, scouts from a number of teams have been observing McGinlay in preparation for a possible summer acquisition. Although Celtic, Norwich, and Ipswich are all said to have a keen interest, West Brom and Stoke are currently leading the race. McGinlay was on trial with the Tractor Boys, so he’s already lived in Ipswich.
The midfield player, who has started for Scotland Under-17 twice, will undoubtedly advance up the youth international ranks in the upcoming years. Although McGinlay isn’t a lock to start right away for any prospective employer, his enormous potential makes him a highly sought-after player in the long run.
