A player’s caliber is typically determined by the caliber of teams interested in signing him. That is definitely the case with a winger who is supposedly under Rangers’ radar but who is likely to wind up landing a big-time transfer to a team with a little bit more cash on hand.

The “sirens” are blaring throughout Europe, according to reports that came out of Italy today.

If Rangers’ chances didn’t already appear slim—the Ibrox-linked forward is reportedly valued at a fee that puts him well beyond Philippe Clement’s reach at £17 million—then interest from the biggest teams in Spanish football, the incoming Turkish champions, and the wealthiest club in Russia could yet ignite a bidding war that pushes the price tag over the £20 million mark.

For Rangers, Jhon Arias seems like a pipe dream.

Sevilla, Galatasaray, and Zenit St. Petersburg have all made “concrete approaches” for Fluminense star Jhon Arias, according to Tuttomercatoweb. The victors of the Copa Libertadores will also have known in their hearts that this day would arrive.

Zenit made a £10.5 million proposal for Fluminense in 2023, but the Russian powerhouses have never indicated that they plan to back down.

Interestingly, Zenit beat Nottingham Forest to center-back Nuno in order to sign one of Arias’ former La Flu teammates. In addition, the St. Petersburg team plundered Corinthians and Palmeiras for Artur and Pedro. In the past, they also paid a large sum of money to bring in Yuri Alberto, a former target of both the Wolves and West Ham.

Arias, who finished 2023 with 11 goals and 17 assists, appears to be the next player off the ladder, as another of Brazilian football’s “best players” is anticipated to make a move to Europe.

A few months ago, Arias’ agent Alex Viveros stated, “Jhon is a focused, committed, and calm player,” reiterating the “interest” of clubs in England’s premier league.

Arias is among the top players in Brazilian football; the A league is regarded as one of the hardest leagues in the world. It is therefore not shocking that he has piqued the curiosity of multiple Premier League teams.

“Jhon’s future is contingent upon the requirements and prospects of overseas clubs.”

Ibrox target Raphael Borges Rodrigues

Due to the unclear futures of loanees Abdallah Sima and Fabricio Silva, Rangers are anticipated to be looking for a winger this summer. However, Rafael Borges Rodrigues seems like a far more practical choice if Arias is just a pipe dream.

The 20-year-old top player for MacArthur FC is one of Australia’s brightest up-and-coming talents. This week, Raphael’s agent also mentioned the possibility of a move to Scotland, albeit he did not specifically specify Rangers.

Clubs in England, Scotland, and mainland Europe are undoubtedly interested, Fahid Ben Khalfallah tells FTBL.

Curiously, the story also states that Ben Khalfallah just got back to Australia from the UK, though FTBL is unable to verify whether or whether he traveled with transfer negotiations in mind.

He has a lot of respect for Macarthur and is still under contract with them for the upcoming season. Given the current circumstances, I anticipate that he will be a player who relocates to Europe soon,” the representative continues.

“I think he’s one of Australia’s best young talents, especially in terms of skill and mentality. I really like him.” In addition to his great talent, he also stands out for his work ethic and demeanor off the field.
