Coventry City: Aston Villa, West Ham boost on Callum O'Hare
Callum O’Hare, a target for West Ham United and Aston Villa, is being held by Coventry City by every means possible.

On Thursday afternoon, the Sky Blues filed their retained list, confirming speculations that O’Hare had received a new contract offer and the departure of senior captain Liam Kelly.

It is anticipated that new terms will persuade the standout midfield player to remain at Coventry Building Society Arena, but the Premier League’s interest is likely to derail the team’s ambitions.

O’Hare scored in the thrilling 3-3 semi-final matchup between Coventry and Manchester United at Wembley Stadium. He was a key player in Coventry’s remarkable FA Cup journey this season. In his five FA Cup appearances this season, that was his fourth goal. In 31 Championship games, he recorded six goals and three assists.

Despite being praised and adored for his role as a vital member of the Sky Blues, O’Hare has let his contract to lapse; it expires on June 30. The playmaker is open to negotiations with any prospective bidders, and other clubs have already expressed interest.

According to The Sun, Villa, West Ham United, Fulham, and Southampton have all expressed interest in signing O’Hare, with the deal’s free clause being especially alluring. The fact that the midfielder can play as a 10, a 6, an 8, or a second striker adds to his appeal of versatility.

It would be a romantic comeback for O’Hare to join with Villa, given he started his career at Bodymoor Heath Academy. The now 26-year-old, who made nine senior appearances in claret and blue, initially spent the entire season on loan before joining Coventry on a free transfer in July 2020. Now the roles might be reversed.
