In light of the Bayern Munich update, Danny Rohl will be wiping his hands in Sheffield on Wednesday.Danny Rohl, the manager of Sheffield Wednesday, is probably rubbing his hands over this most recent Bayern Munich update.
There is little doubt that Sheffield Wednesday will require some additional players during the forthcoming summer transfer window.
With Rohl’s future and that of numerous other first-team players still up in the air, the Owls have a lot on their plate at the moment.
Two players that are not under contract are Barry Bannan and Josh Windass; however, the summer departures of Lee Gregory and George Byers have already been confirmed.
However, Wednesday is being connected to possible new additions, which implies that the team is moving forward with its summer transfer ambitions.
Furthermore, Hillsborough’s transfer ambitions might be expanded by this new information about Bayern Munich.
Hansi Flick is negotiating a return to Bayern Munich.
According to reports, Rohl’s former manager Hansi Flick is currently negotiating a stunning summertime comeback to Bayern Munich.
Before the two moved to take command of the German national team in 2021, Rohl was Flick’s no. 2 at Munich.
After visiting Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday earlier this year to witness the Owls defeat Plymouth Argyle 1-0 in the Championship, Flick has been unemployed since 2023.
Both seem to have kept in touch, and Rohl has already mentioned his good friendship with Flick. Should Rohl take over the German powerhouses this summer, Flick may assign him the responsibility of overseeing the development of a young Bayern Munich player at Sheffield Wednesday.
Bayern Munich to Sheffield Wednesday would be a big change, especially in the here and now with the Owls still in something of a transition period.
The club is making a lot of positive changes off the pitch but they still have a tonne of rebuilding to do this summer as well as the future of Rohl to reaffirm.
But clubs often send their youngsters out on loan towards the end of the summer when they’ve organised their first-team.
So for Sheffield Wednesday, if they can ready themselves for the 2024/25 sooner rather than later, then they’ll be in a position where they can offer themselves to clubs like Bayern Munich, as a place for their younger players to come and gain some first-team experience.
Playing under Rohl has brought the best out of almost every player at Sheffield Wednesday this season, with youngsters like James Beadle, Di’Shon Bernard, Djeidi Gassama and more all prevailing.
So Rohl certainly seems to have that nouse with players, especially younger ones, and Flick will know exactly what his Bayern youngsters would be getting in terms of training and playing style if he sent them to play under Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday.
The pair may naturally be very similar in that sense and so for Bayern, allowing younger players to leave and get experience with Wednesday would be beneficial in terms of shaping them in the way that they want them to be shaped.
Of course, it hinges on Flick first heading to Bayern and then Sheffield Wednesday being in a position where they can realistically take some of the club’s younger players in for the next season, even if from their reserve team.
