Since arriving in England, the striker hasn’t had an easy time adjusting.

After connections were formed between striker Nazariy Rusyn and a return to Ukraine, Sunderland has no intention of letting him go in the summer. This season, Sunderland has had serious problems at the number nine spot. They fell behind early in the season and ultimately failed to make up the gap they had lost due to their summertime quest of a younger goal scorer.

The club’s most obvious choices to play the position were Mason Burstow, on loan from Chelsea, and Rusyn, though Jobe Bellingham, a teenager, did step in occasionally. According to former interim head coach Mike Dodds, Bellingham is one of the striker alternatives that the coaching staff is thinking over for the upcoming campaign.

According to the Northern Echo, Dodds has given the 18-year-old a goal of scoring ten goals the next season, but he also stated that he wants him to establish a position wherever it may be on the field.

Rusyn is the only true striker the team currently has, but questions have recently been raised about his future there. Only a year after joining the Black Cats, the attacker reportedly desired to return to his own country, according to the Ukrainian publication Sport Arena.

As the summer timeframe draws near, more information about Rusyn’s circumstances has now become available.

Nazariy Rusyn anticipated remaining in Sunderland

Sport.ua has reported that Sunderland has no plans to allow the 25-year-old to leave on a loan deal, despite earlier suggestions of his possible departure from the Stadium of Light. The player is anticipated to push for more football now that he and his family have made their home in the area. Karpaty Lviv was reportedly one of the teams interested in signing the Ukrainian striker in the summer, but sport.ua doesn’t think this is the case.

Rusyn still has three years left on his current contract with the team, and Dodds had previously stated that the team is anticipating big things from him next season. He stated, as reported by the Sunderland Echo: “I think his season has been a little bit awkward since, upon joining the club, he doesn’t know the language, which is challenging for any player, in my opinion. “He came here alone at first because there was a problem with his family’s visa; that wasn’t the original plan, so I believe that was somewhat of a blow to him at the time.

“Then you take into account everything else, like a whole different play style and a different region of the world. It is a lifestyle that is distinct. In actuality, Naz is someone you would want more from, but expecting more of him would have been quite cruel.
