Through the transfer portal, the Kentucky Wildcats have just scored a significant special teams Yahtzee! sign 00:15 02:00 FCS All-American kicker/punter Aidan Laros committed to the Wildcats on Tuesday. Laros shared the information on Twitter. Laros declared that he was “committed to The University of Kentucky” in his declaration. Laros started his career at Charlotte, where he played for four seasons—including a redshirt year—after being a 2020 recruit. In 2023, he transferred to UT-Martin. Laros punted 52 times in the previous season, averaging 47.5 yards with a net average of 41.5 yards. Sixteen of his punts went inside the opponent’s 20-yard line, compared to only seven touchbacks. He had eighteen punts of 50 yards or more, including two of 70 yards.
Laros also converted 10/16 field goal attempts and 43/45 extra point tries. He was unanimously selected to the First Team All-American and won the 2023 FCS Punter of the Year Award. Laros is expected to be the frontrunner to be Kentucky’s starting punter for the upcoming season, with Alex Raynor expected to return as the team’s main kicker. The fact that he will also provide insurance at the kicker position is a benefit. Great acquisition for Kentucky’s special teams team!
