In an attempt to improve their prospects of staying up, Sheffield Wednesday spent the January transfer window searching for a new forward.

Despite having the second-lowest goal total in the division at the end of the season, the Owls were able to avoid relegation because to the loan signing of Ike Ugbo. There hasn’t been much talk about Danny Rohl’s team’s interest in Duncan McGuire, despite the Yorkshire club’s interest being strongly linked to him around the conclusion of the transfer window and initial expectations that they could make a run at him this summer. Scott Hogan, a striker who has struggled for playing time with Birmingham City this season, was another player they were briefly connected to in January.

The 32-year-old, dubbed “brilliant,” scored 34 goals over his first four seasons at St Andrews, but this time around he only managed one goal and eleven starts.

Scott Hogan is currently free to use. Wednesday was rumored to be targeting Hogan despite his deteriorating form, but a move never happened.
