According to NBA insider Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf will not make trades with the Los Angeles Lakers because he does not want LeBron James to overshadow Michael Jordan’s legacy.
Reinsdorf does not want to assist LeBron and the Lakers improve.
Jordan and LeBron are widely regarded as the greatest players in NBA history. Reinsdorf and Jordan had many disagreements while Jordan was playing for the Bulls, but Reinsdorf appears to be doing everything he can to maintain Jordan’s “GOAT” status.
Jordan has career averages of 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists for the Bulls and Washington Wizards. He earned five MVPs, six championships, six Finals MVPs, and ten scoring titles. Meanwhile, LeBron has lifetime averages of 27.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists with the Cavaliers, Heat, and Lakers. He has four MVP awards, four championships, and four Finals MVPs.
Jordan ranks first in NBA history in points per game, fourth in steals, sixth in field goals, and second in player efficiency rating. He currently owns the NBA record for the most points (63) scored in a playoff game. Behind Jordan and Scottie Pippen, the Bulls went 6-0 in the NBA Finals and three-peated twice in the 1990s. Jordan is one of three players who have won MVP and DPOY in the same season. The remaining two are Hakeem Olajuwon and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
LeBron, who grew up idolizing Jordan, ranks first in NBA history in points, fourth in assists, ninth in steals, fifth in triple-doubles, seventh in points per game, third in player efficiency rating, and second in field goal percentage. LeBron James is the first player in NBA history to rank in the top five all-time in points and assists, the only player to win three Finals MVP awards with three separate teams, the only player with 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, and 10,000 assists, and the only player to score 40,000 points.
LeBron never lost a playoff game to the Bulls while playing for the Cavaliers or Heat.
