Detroit Lions fans have been closely following the success of Michigan Panthers kicker Jake Bates throughout the season.

As a former NFL kicker, Bates’ time with the Michigan Panthers has showcased his skills to a broader audience.

Bates has gained significant attention during the 2024 UFL season for his impressive long-distance field goals at Ford Field, the shared home of the Panthers and Lions.

Recently, the Panthers released a video of Bates making a 70-yard field goal in practice, reigniting NFL fans’ calls for the Lions to sign this popular kicker.

“You have to approach every kick as the same kick, and if you put more emphasis on one kick than another, that’s going to hinder how you kick each kick,” Bates said during a postgame press conference earlier this season. “I aim to make every kick I attempt, regardless of the scenario.

“I want to succeed every time I’m on the field. Pressure is what you make it, in my opinion. My job is to make kicks, and I’m doing my best to fulfill that.”
