Boston — Drake Maye has already grasped the opportunity to witness a Boston Bruins playoff game. The New England Patriots rookie quarterback had the opportunity to see the Boston Celtics in person on Tuesday night, as they opened the Eastern Conference finals against the Indiana Pacers at TD Garden. Maye, who began the day with voluntary organized team activities with the Patriots, was one of the fans in attendance for Game 1. He arrived in the venue a few hours before tip-off and sat courtside while Celtics players warmed up.

Maye not only received a handmade Celtics jersey, but he also had the opportunity to interact with star forward Jayson Tatum. NBC Sports Boston showed Maye and Tatum having a quick talk before to the game, during which they discussed their rival institutions, with Maye starring at North Carolina and Tatum playing for one season at Duke. Maye’s older brother, Luke, even competed against Tatum on the basketball court when they were in college.

However, the North Carolina-Duke rivalry was not evident when Tatum and Maye met. Tatum gave Maye his signed jersey and the two posed for a picture.

Tatum is significantly taller than Maye, which shone evident during their encounter. Tatum is 6’8″ and weighs 210 pounds, while Maye is 6’4″ and weighs 223. Maye was taken third overall by the Patriots in the NFL draft less than a month ago, but the 21-year-old has already immersed himself in the city’s culture by supporting Boston’s other major sports team.
