Rory McIlroy and golf reporter Amanda Balionis have sparked rumors of a possible relationship following his divorce from Erica Stoll.
The four-time Major winner ended his seven-year marriage with Stoll and filed for divorce on May 13, according to court documents.
McIlroy was seen without his wedding ring while practicing at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, before the start of the 2024 PGA Championship. However, those expecting the 35-year-old to remain single might be wrong.
According to the Daily Mail, the Northern Irishman has been the “talk of the links” with CBS broadcaster Balionis, with fans noting their close relationship on the PGA Tour.
Balionis is currently married to former NFL quarterback Bryn Renner, who she married in 2022.
Speculation arose after footage of an interview Balionis conducted with McIlroy following his victory at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow golf course in Charlotte on May 12. The pair were all smiles when Balionis mentioned McIlroy’s mother, Rosie, and asked him to share a Mother’s Day message with her, just one day before news broke of his divorce filing in Florida.
McIlroy also appeared in a promotional video for Balionis’ non-profit organization, Puppies & Golf, which supports dog protection and provides grants to organizations that train service animals.
Despite the conjecture, there is no evidence to confirm that the pair are romantically involved at this point.
When did Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll separate?
Stoll’s absence from the Masters in April was notable, especially after she and McIlroy had participated in the Par 3 contest at Augusta National in 2023 with their daughter Poppy.
McIlroy and Stoll, who were married in 2017, have a prenuptial agreement and are seeking joint custody of their 3-year-old daughter, Poppy.
Last week, McIlroy’s camp released a statement emphasizing his desire to handle this difficult time with respect and amicability. His team also mentioned that he would not be making any further comments on the matter.
