Down 1-0 in the series following yesterday’s loss to the San Diego Padres, the Miami Marlins face the unique challenge of taking on knuckleballer Matt Waldron (2-5, 4.86 ERA). Miami will counter with Opening Day starter Jesús Luzardo (2-3, 4.14 ERA).

Miami’s lineup for the game is as follows:

CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.
DH Bryan De La Cruz
1B Josh Bell
RF Jesús Sánchez
3B Jake Burger
LF Nick Gordon
SS Tim Anderson
2B Otto Lopez
C Nick Fortes

Luzardo has been in excellent form recently, with his last two starts against the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers resulting in fourteen combined scoreless innings, allowing just five hits without issuing a walk and striking out eleven. He aims to continue his success against a Padres team he shut out in their last encounter on August 22nd last year.

However, Luzardo needs to be cautious of Padres third baseman Manny Machado, who has a 3-7 record against him with two home runs.

The Padres lineup is as follows:

1B Luis Arraez
RF Fernando Tatis Jr.
LF Jurickson Profar
DH Manny Machado
2B Jake Cronenworth
3B Donovan Solano
SS Ha-Seong Kim
CF José Azocar
C Kyle Higashioka

Waldron has revitalized his season by increasing both the usage and velocity of his knuckleball in his last two starts against the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds, striking out seventeen batters while conceding only three runs. He has never faced Miami as a starter, and no Marlins batter has encountered him before.

The game is scheduled to start at 9:40 PM ET, with various broadcast options available. In-market, the Marlins broadcast is on Bally Sports Florida and the Padres are on their self-produced Padres.TV. For audio coverage, the Miami broadcast is available on Fox Sports 940AM (WINZ) and WAQI 710, while San Diego is on KWFN 97.3 and XEMO 860.
