Despite the Tennessee Titans’ offseason upgrades with the acquisitions of Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd, their success in the 2024 season remains uncertain.
The team’s fate will likely rest on the shoulders of second-year quarterback Will Levis. Although the 2023 second-round pick from Kentucky showed promise in his rookie year, doubts linger about whether he can elevate the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
According to Bleacher Report, “An improved supporting cast can help Will Levis become a legitimate franchise quarterback in 2024.”
However, concerns persist that these additions may not be sufficient to compensate for Levis’ accuracy issues.
“The Titans didn’t address Levis’ accuracy concerns adequately,” Bleacher Report states. “The 2023 second-round pick struggled with a completion rate of only 58.4 percent and had the lowest qualified on-target rate in the league during his inconsistent rookie season.”
Levis’ accuracy woes were not as pronounced during his college career, where he completed nearly 65 percent of his passes at Penn State and Kentucky. It’s possible that the transition to the NFL as a rookie or the compatibility with the offensive scheme contributed to his struggles. However, in his second season, Levis will have an opportunity to establish a pattern or overcome his challenges.
Despite having improved targets, Levis must still connect with them effectively. If he fails to do so within coach Brian Callahan’s new offensive system, Levis could face the prospect of being benched or traded to another team by this time next year.
