The Los Angeles Rams are projected to have a solid win total for the 2024 NFL season. Cynthia Frelund, an analytics expert for the NFL Network, estimated the win totals for every NFC team, and the Rams are projected to have 9.2 wins, ranking them sixth in the conference. In the NFC West, the Rams’ win total is second only to the San Francisco 49ers, who have a projected win total of 11.2, the highest in the division and conference.

“Matthew Stafford and the Rams open in Detroit, which kicks off a thrilling season of quarterbacks returning to their former teams,” Frelund wrote. “However, considering how well newly-paid quarterback Jared Goff has played in Detroit, the Lions might feel the absence of Jonah Jackson more, following the guard’s move to Los Angeles.

“The Rams have a favorable schedule over the first 11 weeks, in terms of opponent styles and schedule rhythm. Things get challenging afterward, with a late-November game against the Eagles followed by a grueling December, where the Rams travel across the country to face the Saints, 49ers, and Jets, with a home game against the Bills in between. This stretch is likely to create some drama.”

In 2023, the Rams had a strong comeback with a 10-7 record and a wild-card playoff appearance, after a disappointing 5-12 record in 2022, their worst since 2016.

A Closer Look at the 2024 Los Angeles Rams

Stafford had a solid 2023 season, passing for 3,965 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with a 92.5 passer rating. The Rams also saw significant contributions from young players like running back Kyren Williams, who rushed for 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns, and wide receiver Puka Nacua, who caught 105 passes for 1,486 yards and six scores.

The biggest question for the Rams is how their defense will perform without future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald. After 10 seasons with the team, Donald announced his retirement in March. In his final season, Donald recorded 61 tackles and eight sacks, earning his 10th Pro Bowl selection and eighth All-Pro First Team honor.

To bolster their defense, the Rams selected EDGE rusher Jared Verse in the first round of this year’s draft, hoping for an immediate impact. Linebacker Ernest Jones also returns, following a 2023 season with 145 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and six passes defended.
