Lightning extend the contract of defenseman Declan Carlile for two years, with the flexibility of a two-way deal.
TAMPA BAY – Tampa Bay Lightning announced today the re-signing of defenseman Declan Carlile to a two-year, two-way contract, as confirmed by vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois.
At 24 years old, Carlile showcased his skills in 61 games for the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League last season, tallying seven goals and 27 points. He led the Crunch defensemen in goals, tied for first, and ranked second in assists (20), points, plus/minus (+10), and power-play assists (6). Additionally, Carlile contributed significantly in all eight Calder Cup Playoff games with Syracuse, netting one goal and five points, placing him among the top performers on the team.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 185 pounds, Carlile made his NHL debut with the Lightning last season on January 4, 2024, against the Minnesota Wild. Despite limited NHL experience, he displayed defensive prowess by blocking two shots and delivering one hit in 11 minutes and 27 seconds of ice time.
Hailing from Hartland, Michigan, Carlile entered the professional hockey scene undrafted from Merrimack College. He signed his initial contract with the Lightning on March 16, 2022.
